Cowell Clarke Expands Financial Services Law Team

Commercial law firm Cowell Clarke has further strengthened its financial services capabilities with two key senior appointments.

Hillary Ray joins as a Director in the firm’s Financial Services practice group. She will be mainly based in the firm’s Sydney office.

Over a 14-year career in financial services regulation, Hillary has held senior roles in legal, corporate governance and compliance advising ASX-listed and international clients from countries including Singapore, USA and China.

Hillary’s expertise includes representing individuals and companies in cases involving ASIC, conducting ASIC-style forensic compliance audits, and financial and credit licensing.

Hillary has a keen interest in fintech and the application of law to technology, having advised numerous clients in this space as well as speaking on panels about fintech and regulation.

Elaine Wilson will join Cowell Clarke’s Financial Services practice group as a Senior Associate.

Her career has included senior roles at ASIC and in private practice, providing regulatory and litigation advice to clients including financial planners, insurers and accountants. Elaine has represented clients in the Supreme, District and Magistrates Court of South Australia as well as the Federal Court.
