Joanna Alexis is an associate in Cowell Clarke’s Property practice group. Joanna believes that communication, attention to detail and understanding a client's needs are the keys to providing the most commercial and personalised legal advice.
With previous experience in construction, environment and planning and property law, Joanna has an appreciation and understanding of the overall lifecycle of property development. Joanna has assisted in commercial leasing, contract advice and preparation and property related due diligence. Joanna has acted for and provided advice to landlords and tenants regarding the leasing of office, retail and industrial premises. She has also acted for a State Government authority in respect of property acquisition and leasing/licensing matters and an international property developer in respect of residential housing and land developments. Joanna is also heavily involved in developing, implementing and maintaining software solutions for our property clients to help them stay technologically relevant and improve efficiency, communication and asset management, and also to help Cowell Clarke to better service their clients, including across different jurisdictions.
Joanna joined Cowell Clarke in 2016, having previously worked in another commercial law firm. She is a member of Women's Legal Service Inc (SA), a not-for-profit association that provides pro-bono legal assistance. Joanna graduated from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Laws in 2011. She was admitted to practice in Victoria in September 2011, in South Australia in October 2011 and then into the High Court of Australia in April 2013. Joanna also has a Masters of Law, specialising in commercial drafting, negotiation and advanced contracts.
