Regulated trees amendment

The Planning, Development and Infrastructure (Regulated Trees) Amendment Bill 2017 proposes to amend the PDI Act and Development Act regarding the removal of regulated trees associated with proposed development.

If a proposed development requires the removal of regulated trees, development authorisation for the removal cannot be granted unless all components of the proposed development are approved.

If passed, proponents will be unable to obtain prior authorisation for the removal of regulated trees associated with a proposed development.

The Bill provides an exception if the tree removal must be undertaken to protect a person or building.
