Peter has specific industry experience acting for wineries and agribusiness and in the superannuation industry.
Peter is a regular presenter for the TIA, ICAA and other professional bodies. He is also a regular author of numerous articles in Taxation in Australia and CCH Tax Week.
Peter is also Chairman of the Taxation Institute's Education Committee (SA).
Peter is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Recent Experience
Acting for an ASX top 100 company on the tax issues associated with selling a subsidiary including effecting a clear exit for tax consolidations purposes and reviewing and responding to detailed tax due diligence.
Advising a WA group on a restructure and sale of over $20M of land and other farm assets.
Restructuring the land holdings of a winery group and reviewing the income tax, capital gains tax and goods and services tax implications so as to achieve optimal tax outcomes in line with the commercial objectives of the group.
Reviewing and restructuring the tax and commercial affairs of a top 100 Australian wealthy client to provide for long term succession planning objectives.
Identifying and ultimately obtaining a significant refund of GST for a listed company after detailed analysis of a prior complex financing transaction entered into by the group.
Advice to numerous chartered accounting firms (and other public accountants) on difficult issues concerning their clients affairs including trust losses, small business CGT concessions, division 7A, capital allowances and other complex areas of the tax legislation.
