Peter joined Cowell Clarke in January 2003 and works in the firm’s commercial litigation section. Admitted in March 1999, Peter previously provided both transactional and litigious advice at a large Adelaide commercial firm and has also undertaken insolvency enforcement work for a statutory regulator in London.
In corporate insolvency matters he has provided advice to liquidators, creditors, company directors and other parties in fields such as liquidator’s preference and insolvent trading claims, retention of title disputes, deeds of company arrangement and liquidator’s liabilities.
Peter also has an active interest in personal insolvency matters and has advised bankruptcy trustees and defendants in recovery proceedings.
In the area of general commercial litigation, Peter has a broad range of experience in areas including trade practices act claims, breakdowns of partnership businesses, sale of business transactions and enforcement of directors and advisers’ duties under the Corporations Act and at the general law.
The clients to whom Peter provides advice and representation include finance industry participants, manufacturers, private investors, insolvency practitioners and commercial property owners.
Peter is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of South Australia and of the High Court of Australia and holds degrees in Arts and Law (with Honours) received from the University of Adelaide.
