Robert obtained his law degree from the University of Adelaide and was admitted to the South Australian Supreme Court Bar and the High Court Bar in 1984.
Robert heads the firm's insolvency and reconstruction section as well as the banking and finance section.
Robert specialises in the areas of corporate litigation, corporate and personal insolvency, banking and finance with a focus on recovery and reconstruction and trade practices and anti-trust law. He also has expertise in computer and high technology commercialisation contracts and dispute resolution arising out of IP/IT transactions.
Robert has significant expertise in the processes of obtaining sequestration orders pursuant to the Bankruptcy Act and winding up orders pursuant to the Corporations Act. Robert acts for Administrators, Receivers, Liquidators and Trustees predominantly in investigating, advising and prosecuting legal actions for insolvent trading, unfair preferences, and directors’ misfeasances. He also often acts for creditors in defending preference claims, and directors in defending insolvent trading claims.
He is a leading lawyer in the area of negotiating and implementing company reconstructions and workouts.
He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Australian Institute of Credit Management and the Law Society of South Australia. He is also a member of and actively involved in the Australian Insolvency Practitioners Association and the Insolvency and Reconstruction section of the Law Council of Australia.
