Julia is a member of Cowell Clarke’s Employment Group and has practised in the area of employment law since 2005.

Julia has experience in a wide range of employment related matters and often represents employers in defending unfair dismissal claims, general protections (adverse action) disputes, sexual harassment claims, disability or other discrimination claims, workers compensation matters, breach of contract claims, occupational health and safety matters and in responding to investigations by the Fair Work Ombudsman.

Julia also regularly provides advice to employers with respect to termination and termination payments (including Corporations Act restrictions on making such payments), redundancy, employee entitlements in transfer of business situations, modern award coverage, obligations under the Fair Work Act, restraints of trade, engaging workers as independent contractors (and the ’sham’ contracting provisions) and employee issues in insolvency (including the operation of GEERS) and has also assisted employers in negotiating collective enterprise agreements.

Julia acts for employers in a wide range of industries including professional services, oil and gas, not for profit organisations, pharmaceutical and associated industries, transport and building and construction as well as acting for senior executives in actions against their employers. Julia regularly acts for interstate and international clients as well as clients based in South Australia.

Julia also has experience in commercial litigation including general contractual disputes, insolvency, Trade Practices Act (now Competition and Consumer Act) claims and debt recovery.

Julia was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Australia in February 2007. She has a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Adelaide, and is currently studying a Masters of Labour Relations Law at Melbourne University, with first class honours to date.
