Employment - Career Opportunities

Cowell Clarke offers talented people the opportunity to join a great team and to experience legal practice in a specialist commercial law firm. Our people value our culture and are able to develop both professionally and personally in an enjoyable work environment.

As our firm continues to grow, we need lawyers at all levels and in all areas of our practice from time to time.

Summer Clerkships and PLT Placements

Summer Clerkships and PLT Placements are important because they often lead to full time positions. Most of the junior solicitors who have joined our firm have been introduced to us through Summer Clerkships or alternatively through PLT Placements.

A Clerkship or Placement is an opportunity for you to learn the skills that will make you an excellent lawyer regardless of the area in which you wish to practice.

While there are a lot of theories about the best way to train a Clerk or a young practitioner, there is one thing you cannot doubt. You won't learn to be a good lawyer by spending the first three years of your practice photocopying. At Cowell Clarke you will have access to and work with senior lawyers who are recognised as being the best in their fields. Similarly, you will have client contact and be asked to assume responsibility for your work, with proper supervision, sooner rather than later.

Cowell Clarke has the benefit of being big enough to cover many areas of practice while being small enough to ensure you will be given the opportunity to put into practice what you have learnt in theory over the past few years.
